Social War (jan 24, 91 BC – jan 24, 88 BC)

Description:

The Social War also known as the Italian War, was a war for Italian enfranchisement. Several cities of the Roman Republic rebel against Rome, the purpose being to achieve citizenship for the Italian people. Before this war only Roman citizens were entitled to citizenship as a birth right. The war ends with concessions made by Rome to the wider confederation leading to citizenship for all Latin and Italian communities that did not revolt. This war importantly sees the rise of Sulla at its conclusion.
