France is in trouble in Verdun, so they call for help from the Allies. Britain starts the Battle of the Somme to draw German attention away from Verdun. Britain advances just six miles, and the battle claims the lives of over 1 000 000 people. The Battle of the Somme has the first tanks ever used. (The British are using the tanks.)
