The Constitutional Convention (may 27, 1787 – sep 17, 1787)

Description:

This was the convention where the Constitution of The United States was written. When they met in Pennsylvania they intended to amend the Articles of Confederation, but they ended up creating a new government by writing this document. Only 55 of the 74 deputies chosen to come took part in this, and only 39 signed the Constitution. Some important delegates that were there included George Washington who was elected president, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, James Wilson, John Rutledge, Charles Pinckney, Oliver Ellsworth, and Gouverneur Morris.
