The liberation of the Philippines from Japanese control commences, continuing the United States’ campaign across the Pacific.
After losing the Philippines to Japan, the US soldiers vowed to not let history repeat itself. As a part of its “Island Hopping,” the Philippines was a great way to get the job going.
