The Enlightenment (oct 1, 1700 – jan 1, 1800)

Description:

An intellectual movement of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries marked by a celebration of the powers of human reason, a keen interest in science, the promotion of religious toleration, and a desire to construct governments free of tyranny. Through this time period, the importance of human thinking and reason significantly increased. Societies began to value human reason and rationality. Also, during this time period, individuals began to see the flaws in the class system. As a result, the class system slowly began to fade away resulting in more equality under the law. Also, certain indiviudal rights and freedoms were more valued as religious freedom increased with greater toloerance.
