Five-Year Plan/The Windmill (jan 1, 1929 – jan 1, 1933)
Description:
Stalin's Five-Year Plans were meant to industrialize the USSR in order to compete with the West. Along with this, he wanted to collective agriculture. These policies led to millions of deaths due to famine. Animal Farm draws parallels to this with the production of windmills. Napoleon (Stalin) orders work to be put on creating a windmill in order to be able to produce more later on, but it never does and the animals just work more for less.
