Horror Movie Franchise Releases

This timeline was created in honor of the exciting revival of several major horror franchises with fresh new installments. Starting it off with the two earliest modern horror franchises: George A. Romero's "Dead" series and William Peter Blatty's "The Exorcist" franchise films. The Ninth Configuration is included, as Blatty himself considers it a true sequel and not just a follow up film. Please feel free to add to this timeline with any of your favorite horror film franchises! Criteria: - First film must inarguably belong to the horror genre. Subsequent films can deviate somewhat. Examples: Alien ✓, The Purge ✓ - Must have three or more feature-length installments. Example: Re-Animator (original, Bride of, and Beyond) ✓, Unfriended (original, Dark Web) ✘ - No TV media franchises. Example: The Walking Dead (7 TV series, 7 videogames, 0 movies) ✘, The Twilight Zone (4 TV series, 1 movie) ✘ - If there are at least 3 feature-length films, shorts may be included. Example: Saw (2003 Short) ✓ - The films do not need to belong in the same "cinematic universe" or follow a single narrative.
