Victorian Era The Victorian era was an Australian architecture era that consisted of many features such as: -Steeply Pitched Roofs -Coloured Brick -Painted Iron Railings -Churchlike Rooftops The victorian era recieved its name after Queen Victoria who held the thronw for the most of this time period.
Victorian Boom Style Era The Boom Style Victorian Era first emerged during the mid-1870s and finished towards the 1890's With the economic boom of the gold rush, architecture became very complicated and contained very unnecessary architectural features Some of these distinguishing features were: -Intricate Brickwork (patterns, colours, shapes) -Highly decorated facades -Decorated roofs with tiles in polychromatic patterns It received its name from the economic boom of the gold rush
Federation Era The complex broken form and scale of the buildings contained the exterior, enhancing the garden views from the interior spaces. Some Distinct Features of this era included: -High Ceilings With Plasterwork -Multiple Faceted Roofs -Asymmetrical Design -Elaborate Verandahs The federation era received its name as it was the style of architecture around when Australia was joined.
Edwardian Era The Edwardian Era was very similar to the federation Era in its style however as time progressed, the houses became slightly more modernised, however at the core, the Federation and the Edwardian era were very similar.
Californian Bungalow Era This 1920s design of the Californian Bungalow Era, which was influenced by America, featured lower-pitched roofs and frequently thick columns beneath the veranda. Some Of its Distinct Features include: -Interior walls made of stained plywood -Double Hung Windows It Recieved its name 'The Californian Bungalow' as it was embraced by American architecture where the design was created.
