1917 - Literacy Test - Literacy Test Introduced - Immigrants had to take a literacy test to be allowed access, - Mainly Targeted at Russians and Eastern Europeans
1921 - The Emergency Quota Act - Emergency Quota Act Introduced - Restricted the numbers of immigrants to 357,000 Per Year - Quota meant: Only 3% of the total population of any overseas group already in the USA in 1920 could come in after 1921
1924 - The National Origins Act - Reduced the maximum number of immigrants a year to 150,000 - And cut the Quota to: 2%, based on the population of the USA in 1890.
1929 - February , 14th - St Valentines Day Massacre - Climax of the gangster wars between Bugs Moran and Al Capone
1924 - Investigations into Harding's administration began, with reports of corruption and bribery - Several members were charged and arrested
1927 - Albert B Fall was arrested for his involvement in the teapot Scandal - It was the biggest scandal involving, Politian's leasing the Governments land to oil companies for land

1929 - October , 29th - Wall Street Crash - Because in June 1929 people realised the stocks were high. - The Wall St Stock Market could not be regulated and could be bought 'on the margin' - By October people wanted to sell before prices fell
1925 - July - The Monkey Trial took place - It was about John Scopes teaching the the theory of evolution in a state that had banned it - This is because the teachings on Charles Darwin went against Christianity

1917 - 1920 - Period of the Red Scare - Where some people belives that a communist revolution was going to happen in America. - Immigrants were under suspicion of being involved in a revolution - Also included the Palmer Raids which involve Mitchelll Palmer arresting people with an unfair trial and lead to serious consequences. This resulted in many communist being arrested .
