Band Knife machine is finally invented by John Barran, cuts many pieces of cloth at a time
1.7 million children are being employed were being employed in very unsafe conditions. Many were being employed in Garment Factories.
Spreading machines, usually made out of wood are being used to spread cloth evenly, making it easier to cut.

International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union was created. Many people joined this Union as a protest against poor working conditions in Garment Factories.
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire breaks out. About 84 people die to fire about 62 people die from jumping through the windows. This Industrial accident angers the public due to the fact that workers could not escape because the doors were locked. No fire safety regulations were put into place before this event.
Factory Investigating Commision was created.Factory Investigating Commission mainly due to the public uproar about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. This organization went to many factories to investigate the poor working conditions and enforce new safety laws.
