Vladek is Drafted into the Army
Page 40After army training for a few days, Vladek is now on the frontier, dug in near a river. On the other side of the river were Germans. In this battle he becomes a POW.
Page 46Vladek is released from the POW camp on the Parchas Truma (Terumah)
Page 49 - 61May 10, 1942. A notice saying:
"" All Jews over 70 years old will be tranfered to Theresienstadt in Czeslovakia on May 10th 1942..." But Anja's grandparents didn't go.
Page 88Around this time, Anja's father was taken in the place of the grandparents. A few days later, the grandparents had to be handed over or else the whole family will be taken away.
Page 89Every Jew went to the Dienst Stadium to get their papers checked. The people who were fit to work were sent to the right, people who were not fit to work were sent to the left side. Vladek's father sneaked onto the bad side so he could help his daughter cope with her four children.
Page 93Around this time, the Germans wanted to liquidate Vladek's Ghetto. He got caught in his bunker. Vladek, Anja, and Lolek got out. The older two couldn't get out. During this time he worked as a shoe maker.

Anja meets Vladek. During thid time period Anja meets Vladek in Sosnowiec.
Pages 17-18By the end of this time period, Anja and Vladek were married.
Page 24Richieu is born. Shortly after Anja became very depressed.
Pages 32-33They visit a sanitarium to help Anja recover. When they come back she is much better.

Page 84Around this time they got moved to the Srodula Ghetto. There they were marched to work in German Shops. The children, Wolfe, Tosha, Bibi, Lolek's Sister, Lonia, and Richieu went to a different Ghetto with Persis.
Page 107-110Around this time the Zawriece Ghetto was being evacuated to Auschwitz. Tosha did not want her or any of the children to have to suffer from the gas chambers, so using the poison she always carried, she poisoned the 3 children and herself.

Page 114Vladek stayed in the quarentine teaching his Kapo english.

Page 228During this time, or anytime starting later but ending at the same time, Vladek once again worked with Yidl in the tin shop.During this time, Vladek marched from Auschwitz to Gross-Rosen. He also got locked in a cart for cows for weeks on end. Then the war ended.
