Bankruptcy in France- When France first went bankrupt. Start of the French Revoltion.
Meeting of the Estates General- Meeting to vote on taxes and reforms, each state recieved one vote.
Tennis Court Oath- 3rd Estate walks oat and creates a new government.
Storming of the Bastille- Mob of 800 Parisians attack the old fortress prison, trying to find weapons
National Assembly Reforms- Ended feudalism, taxed nobles, abolished estates system, writes mens rights, keeps King.
Civil Constitution of the Clergy passed- Law stating that the Catholic Church belongs to the French Government.
The Flight to Varennes- The Royal Family attempts to flee to Varennes from Paris.
War- European rulers scared by Revolution, fighting breaks out.
National Convention- Got rid of Monarchy, created Republic of France.
Trial- King and Queen are put on trial for their flight to Varennes.
King Killed- Charged as traitor and killed by guillotine. Made other European countries horrified.
Queen Killed- Killed after King for treason, also died by a guillatene.
Reign of Terror- Beginning of a 10 month period where there was a civil war in France with army vs. royalists and the church.
Robespierre Executed- He was guillotined without trial along with 21 others.
The Directory- Continued wars, weak and corrupt. Lasted until 1799.
