Events
She was built in 1854, using a small amount of material salvaged from the frigate USS Constellation.
The Constellation was in service during the Civil War In 1861
USS Constellation was drydocked in the Boston Naval shipyard in August and September 1946 to determine the feasibility and cost of making her into a “permanent relic.”
The sloop came to Baltimore in 1955 and was in need of repair after several years of neglect had taken its toll.
In 1992, the USS Constellation was condemned by the Navy as an unsafe vessel and was closed to the public.
It took them 4 years to repair the Constellation. In July of 1999 the Constellation returned to her pier.
Periods
From 1905 to 1911 the USS Constellation served as a Receiving and Training Ship at Newport, Road Island.
