This is the ownership history of a home in Fort Gaines GA that was featured on Ghost Adventures: House Calls a few years back. These records have been pulled from tax records and deeds that have been found. We still have about 70 years to go.

The McAllister hotel opens in Miami, but without Emma, as she ran out of money during construction and had to sell. She remains in Miami the rest of her life and is buried there.
Judson Hyatt was shot & killed by the then county sheriff and former town marshal J T McAllister Sr in the 2nd-floor NW bedroom. Shooting was deemed justifiable at the Coroner's inquest, but still had suspicious circumstances. Buried in Fort Valley GA.
Sheriff J T McAllister Sr either commits suicide or is murdered (suspicious circumstances) near Knoxville Tennessee. J T McAllister Jr also dies after this the same year. Both were buried in New Park Cemetery.
Sometime this year, the Rev John E Brown arrives in Fort Gaines. We believe that he and maybe his son James E Brown had the Kettle House built this year on parts of lots 362 and 395 of District 5.
The Coleman written tour pamphlet claims that the brothers JHP (sp?) Brown and Bob Brown built Kettle in this year to use as a tin shop and a mercantile. When you look at their birth and death records, that build year is impossible, not to mention that those two are not brothers (unless there are additional family members of which we are not aware).
J R Cook (Emma's first husband) death. Buried in New Park Cemetery.
Sanborn map 1895 referred to as Cook House
Sanborn map 1890 referred to it as Mrs Cook's Hotel.
Sanborn map 1885 referred to it as Mrs Cook's Hotel.
Sanford map 1905 referred to it as Dobbins House. The small house next door had been built sometime since 1900and is noted as an office.
Sanborn map 1922 now refers to it as Puckett House.

Rev John E Brown death. Buried in Pioneer Cemetery.
The Fort Gaines Sentinel reports that McAllister was exonerated in a trial after being indicted by a grand jury. The trial lasts less than a week and is ridiculed outside the community as a setup.
James E Brown (son of Rev. John E Brown dies. Buried in New Park Cemetery.
Robert Brown death. He was NOT a brother to JPH (sp?) Brown, but rather one of John E Brown. However, he is buried in Blackstock SC and no place of death has been found.
JPH Brown is born at an unknown place here in GA.
John E Brown resigns as president of Franklin College (UGA). He becomes a minister at Mt. Zion Church in Hancock County, GA. for the next 12 years. No exact date has been found.
Sometime this year, John E Brown leaves Mt Zion and goes to Washington GA, where he ministers for another 5 years. No exact date has been found.
