I decided to join the Air Force
I started researching how I could join the Air Force
I signed up for military service in the Air Force
I was contacted by the Air Force via email with an invitation to come and take my medical and psychological exams
I had to wait several days until the day finally came to go for my medical and psychological exams
I had to wait a very looong time for the Air Force to reveal the results. I was so happy to be accepted, especially knowing that only 55 (including me, of course :) ) of the 300 applicants were selected
We had to go through hell during the first few days. Not only was the weather challenging, but so was the training. We lived every day to the limit
I had to wait several weeks again to be contacted by the Air Force. When the Air Force contacted me, they told me to go to Rionegro so I could join the others that were accepted as well.
I I went to Rionegro and met other applicants who were also accepted, then, our commander arrived and told us to get into a bus
We had to travel on that bus for hours until we reached Puerto Salgar. The weather was very hot and dry, there was not a single cloud in the sky and even the wind felt hot
I received my Air Force uniform. I was excited, but honestly, the excitement was short-lived since the uniform was thick and didn't allow airflow, so I felt like I was suffocating haha
I was having problems with my health because I have flat feet, so activities such as marching, running and other activities caused me some pain due to the intensity with which they were done
Unfortunately I had an accident. I was in the firing range with my fellow soldiers and our commanders. I was happy and proud because my aim in the night shooting practice had perfect results
One commander gave us the order to run back to the base, there were no lights, so we couldn't see much, we barely could see. I followed the order and started running, but in the middle of the rush, my left foot went into a hole and I realized it too late because I tried to move forward and that only caused me to lose my balance and fall, causing my knee to bend strongly, making an unnatural movement for the joint.
My commander saw me and helped me to get into a truck, which took me to the hospital (there is a hospital inside the Air Force Puerto Salgar's base)
I was hospitalized for a long time and even had to use crutches to stand. My joint was severely damaged, and there was a risk of my tendons and ligaments to burst
The Air Force ordered another round of medical and psychological examinations, and although I passed the psychological examinations, I failed the medical examinations because my knee had not recovered in time and I was still using crutches
The Air Force determined it was best to send me home; there was nothing I could do but accept that. I was in the Air Force for a short time, and although I suffered a lot, I ironically enjoyed my Air Force experience very much. The end :) (Here is a photo of me with my face cropped because I'm shy)
