1 nov 1765 anni - Stamp Act passed
Descrizione:
The Stamp Act was an act that allowed the taxation of items that were stamped. However, the act was more like a fee for services rather than a form of taxation. The way the system worked was that the stamp had to be purchased and stuck onto the item that would be bought and sold. These stamps also had to be bought for documents, deeds, and licences. This had affected everyone, which enraged the Americans. The Americans had no representatives in the British Parliament, which meant that they felt like they were being taxed without consent. They refused the words "taxation without representation"
