In this experiment, these scientists deciphered the sequence of 33.5 million chemical components of chromosome 22. This made it the longest continuous DNA sequence ever assembled. Because of this, scientists could view a full chromosome for the first time ever, which allowed them to discover the mutations that can affect that chromosome.
