25 dic 1830 anni - Joseph Jackson Lister

Descrizione:

Joseph (January 11, 1786—October 24, 1869) was an English amateur opticist whose discoveries played an important role to perfecting the objective lens system of the microscope, rising that instrument to the status of a serious scientific tool.
Lister found a method of combining lenses that greatly improved image resolution by taking out certain chromatic and spherical aberrations. In 1830 he began grinding his own lenses, developing techniques that he explained to optical instrument makers in London.
Using his newly upgraded lenses, Lister was the first to determine the true form of the red blood cell.
