The electron microscope was invented by physicist Ernst Ruska and the electrical engineer Max Knoll. They constructed the prototype in late 1931 at the Berlin Technische Hochschule.
The structure had higher resolution, imposed by the limit of visible light. Ther microscope capable of 400x power of magnification was the first demonstration of the principle of electron microscopy.
