In 1753 the British got tired of letting the Acadians live on their land, so they decided to tell them that if they didn't pledge allegiance they would be evacuated. The Acadians ( being french ) wanted to keep everything they stood for and did not pledge allegiance . So they were taken away and forced to watch their homes go up in flames . Family's were seperated and many died.
