In chapter 7, Bruno is really affected by the fact that there is nothing to do at his new home, and he remembers that he loves to swing. So, Bruno decided to go outside, and make a swing. With the help of Pavel, the cook, he was able to successfully make a swing. While he was swinging he fell, and hurt himself badly. Pavel cleaned up the wound, and helped him. After Bruno's mother found out, she told Pavel that he was not allowed to tell father that he had cleaned up Bruno's wound. Bruno gets angry because his mother was taking credit for something that she didn't do, when there was clearly something bigger that was going on.
