Court case when a slave owner transferred his slave into a free state and the slave wanted to declare his freedom. However, it was declared by the Supreme Court that slaves were property and cannot be taken away without dew process, which concluded with saying that the constitution did not apply to slave in the United States and that Congress did not have the right to ban slavery in any federal territory.
