Descrizione:
The Townshend Acts placed taxes upon lass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. It was introduced to parliament by Chancellor of the Exchequer Charles Townshend. The acts were repealed after a great deal of conflict in April 1770, except for the tea tax. This was to remind the colonies of Parliament's right to tax. It led to a slight truce for a small period of time.
