1 gen 1892 anni - Greeks Started Arriving in Lowell
Descrizione:
The Greeks came because they were very poor due to bad growing circumstances, and natural unfortunate occurrences like sickness and blight. Many Greek immigrants were allowed into the US with false ages, because they were too young to be legally let in to the US alone.
The Lowell mills took advantage of the immigrants, and were quickly able to enlist thousands of immigrants into the mills at 4-16 dollars a week. By 1912, there were over 20,000 Greeks in Lowell.
