By 1960 60% of all American families owned homes; 75% owned cars; 87% at least one TV. GNP (in 1958 $) climbed from $318 billion to $488 billion by 1960. Government spending, increased consumer demand etc. Corrected for inflation, the average workers income in 1960 35% higher than what it had been in 1945 and 2x that of the 1920s. With just 6% of the worlds population, US produced and consumed half of everything made and sold on earth. Brought about possibly the highest living standard in history. The US is seen as a cornucopia of consumer delights, based from this economic movement from the 1960s.
