jul 4, 1977 - 1977 Nestlé boycott US & UK
Description:
In the 1970s, declining rates of breastfeeding led a number of organisations to raise concerns about the marketing practices of breast milk substitute manufacturers - including Nestlé - in developing countries.
The action was prompted in part by the publication of 'The Baby Killer' report. In July 1977 US campaigners launched a boycott against Nestle over the sale of baby milk. The action was prompted in part by a publication by the British campaign charity, 'War on Want' of 'The Baby Killer' report.
