14h 39min, jan 21, 1793 y - King Louis XVI is executed

Description:

Louis XVI was the last King of France. Ruling France between 23, August 1754 to January 1793.
His early reign was marked by attempts to follow the enlightenment ideas of the public, but the main body of the monarchy was opposed to this idea and prevented their implementation.
However Louis’s views did not share that of his people and many of his intended policies proved unpopular. As the years continued his credibility and popularity amongst the people of France, his indecisiveness and consortium was not viewed kindaly in an age of enlightenment and liberalism. His disastrous plan to escape to the royalist fortress town of Montmédy, known as the flight to Varennes, did not help his already fragile public image.
On the 21st of January 1793, King louis was executed in the now renamed Revolution square, formerly named after him. The King was convinced by a near unanimous vote, and was soon executed by Guillotine.
