mar 7, 1808 - Transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil
Description:
The royal family of Portugal fled to Brazil which became the capital of Portugal. This occurred because Napoleon's army was conquering all of Portugal, so the family moved to Brazil and it remained the capital of Portugal for the next 17 years. This also sparked a alliance with Great Britain who were allowed to use the Portuguese ports as trade centers and one as a Naval base.
