A few years later, in 1989, CORFO sold its shares to Foote Minerals, which became a partner in1998 with the German Chemetall. In 2004, Chemetall was bought by the U.S. company Rockwood Holdings Inc. and in 2012 SCL became Rockwood Lithium Ltd.
