Major Event 2: A white police officer, Darren Wilson, fatally shot a black teenager, Michael Brown, who was unarmed on August 9 in Ferguson, Missouri. The event sparked weeks of protests- just as they were dying down, the grand jury announced that they were not going to indict (accuse someone of a crime) Wilson, which started another set of protests. Overall, the Ferguson shooting led to questions and debates about racial bias and the police force.
