feb 12, 2023 - a. During the rest of the week Rob, Chris, and Mark were working on their respective pieces of the business.

Description:

Mark was looking into financial things, Chris was working on technical systems and various other projects, and Rob was holding down the fort on the ground in Florida.
b. Chris had a conversation with Mark on Feb 12th that became very concerning. He had made mention throughout the week that his family was concerned for his health, and he needed rest. He seemed to slowly devolve throughout the week.
c. During this conversation, Chris asked Mark a silly dad joke to lighten up the mood, “Why do you never see hippos hiding in trees?”. Mark went on and on for the next several minutes after asking for 10 minutes to figure it out. He asked what type of trees were in Chris’ home state of New Mexico, what was the state tree, what the population of certain cities were, and if there were any hippos at the zoo, etc. This went on for several minutes and I became very concerned.
d. Chris asked him directly if he was ok. Mark explained that his mind was clearer than ever, and he was just fine. The conversation was concluded. Chris reached out to Mel to ask if someone was around him. She said that she was with him and she was looking to get him to the hospital due to the concerns.
e. It was later found out that Mark was admitted to the hospital and eventually kept against his will. That is basically all that is known.
f. Mark was in the hospital for approx. 3-4 days. During this time Chris and Rob collaborated with Mel and expressed our concern for Mark’s health as well as gathered information that he was working on to pick up the pieces of what was going on. Chris reached out to Mark’s “team” and started to see patterns of things that were not completed or being done by “team” members that Mark had said was being done. To Chris and Rob this just seemed like a Craig type situation all over again with the overexaggerating and showboating.
g. Chris handled the finances and operations during these few days and again found patterns of things that were not in line with what Mark was telling us.
h. During the times that Chris and Mark were together in person, Mark shared that his brother was very successful with owning well over 20 or 40 or 72 Burger Kings (the number changed day to day). He also shared that he vowed to never do anything in business without his wife’s approval. When Mark was in the hospital Mark’s brother talked with Rob and Chris and shared that many of the things that Mark said that his brother James was doing was not true (eluding to being a hired “consultant” for the company). James said that he had talked to him a few times about what was going on with Fo’Cheezy’s situation, but that he wasn’t going to do any day-to-day decisions for him.
i. Chris shared with James what had transpired in the last couple weeks, and he was not too surprised to hear the actions of his brother. James shared with Chris directly, “I would never do business with my brother.” Referring to several of the risky actions that Chris was explaining about his brother. James also shared with Chris that this type of “episode” had happened to Mark twice in the past and it was always during times where he felt like he was coming into something like a white night.
j. Obviously, these comments from Mark’s own brother were very concerning, and James was very levelheaded and concerned for us and also very straight forward with his comments about his brother.
