dec 2, 1971 - The UAE is founded On December 2, 1971, the rulers of six of the emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman, and Umm al-Quwain). Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan served as President since the formation of the federation. The flag of the country was made by Abdullah Mohammed Al Maainah who at the time was 19 years old. On February 10, 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined the federation.
