Major Event 1: The Athens Olympics, formally known as the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad, took place in the birthplace of the Olympics- Athens, Greece (starting on August 13). This edition of the Olympics was notable for Michael Phelps setting a record for the most number of medals won at a single Olympics event at 8. It was also the first time women’s sabre fencing and women’s wrestling were incorporated into the games.
