jun 5, 1944 - Liberation of Rome

Description:

With the battle of Monte Cassino, not far from the Mediterranean coast, it opened a way for Allied forces to push further north into German-occupied territory of Italy. As a result of the pressure, the German troops retreated eventually further up north. The battle led to a series of more that would eventually free Rome and later Italy.
