aug 17, 1953 - The "New" Saint Joseph's Hospital opens its doors.

Description:

Description: Funding for this new facility was procured from the citizens of Phoenix by the Sisters of Mercy, when they realized they had our grown the land on 4th and Polk.
Reflection: This hospital also has personal history with me. I worked for St. Joe's in the time of its transition from Catholic Healthcare West to Dignity Health. I worked hospital security so I had the opportunity to see every part of the hospital. In the heart and lung tower the walls were lined with pictures and photographs of the hospital's history. The basement is a maze that is very easy to get lost in.
