jun 9, 1772 - The Gaspee Affair
Description:
The Gaspee Affair involved a British customs schooner named Gaspee that had been enforcing the Navigation Acts in Newport, Rhode Island in 1772. Gaspee was attacked by a group of men led by Abraham Whipple and John Brown. They attacked him, boarded the ship, and then torched the ship. This increased tensions between Britsh officials and colonists. This is good for me because even though tensions between the colonies and England are at an all-time high and war may ensue, people are finally standing up to the tyrannical rule of the British parliament. Victory for Colonists!
