Description: The ASNA worked closely with the State to support the development of this department (Scheffer, 2014). The department offers health resources to the community. Its goal is to promote health and wellness statewide.
Reflection: The AZDH provides an abundance of services and resources to the community and to health professionals and facilities. The department also directly oversees the operation of Arizona State Hospital (ASH), which offers the highest level of psychiatric care in the state and has for over 130 years. It is located on 24th street and Van Buren, which is right down the road from Gateway Community College (where I am attending my block classes). The ASH offers tours upon request, but I have not had a chance to schedule one.
