feb 6, 1778 - France Allies with America
Benjamin Franklin signed the treaty of Amity and Commerce in 17778. This treaty promoted trade between the two nations and it made it official to France that America was an independent nation. While Franklin was in France he also signed the Treaty of Alliance which made it so France would help America in their fight for independence. Both France and America had their disputes with Britain which made them the perfect allies, an alliance that is still present to this day. The reason behind France's dislike towards Britain is because after the Seven Year's War France lost some landd to Britain.
