sep 3, 1783 - Treaty of Paris
Description:
The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War. The agreement also gave the United States lands reserved for Aboriginal peoples through previous negotiations with Britain, betraying earlier treaties and alliances, making the Aboriginal peoples furious. Between Britain and the United States, the treaty proved ineffective. Britain retained its western posts until after Jay’s Treaty and denied the US free navigation of the St Lawrence River. The Americans ignored their promises to the Loyalists.
