Description:
The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress meeting at Pennsylvania state house in Philadelphia. The declaration declared that the Thirteen Colonies were to be Thirteen independent sovereign states without British rule. The declaration also formed the Thirteen States into a Country called the United States of America. The declaration was passed on the 2nd of July unanimously. Thomas Jefferson was to compose the draft and Congress would be the one to edit the draft. The Declaration was basically a formal letter to why the Americans voted to become independent. The declaration was ratified on on July 4th and was widely distributed among the public to read.
