D-Day was a hugely significant battle in WWII. It's name is recognizable today even to people who don't know much about the war. Also called the Normandy Landings, it was the Allied invasion of Normandy. It included 156,000 British, American, and Canadian troops, 5,000 ships, 11,000 aircraft, and 50,000 vehicles.
