dec 27, 2002 - Beckie Scott Wins all medals in one event due to doping.

Description:

this happened at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002, in the women's cross country skiing event. The two Russian competitors who placed first and second were both found to have positive drug tests prior to the Olympics which would have made them ineligible to compete. They were both disqualified and the medals were awarded to Scott. This event is a societal issue because doping is now seen as socially unacceptable and is still a large problem in today's society. It is still relevant in today's society as at this years Olympic Games Russia was banned from competing under their flag due to the large doping scandal in 2014.
