12h 16min, jun 15, 1944 y - Battle of Saipan
Description:
On June 15, 1944, the United States invaded the island of Saipan, which was part of Japan since the end of the First World War. Saipan, and in general the Mariana Islands, were great points of the Japanese defense, therefore, an important target for the allies.
The invasion took Japan by surprise, since it thought that the Americans would attack the Caroline Islands first. On the same day, Japanese troops arrived in Saipan and began a fight against the Americans. In the following weeks, as expected, the United States crushed the Japanese and on July 9 completely defeated them.
