Description:
The fight started in the morning when Dakota warriors surround New Ulm. The Dakota fire at the town’s defenders from inside and behind buildings for cover. Buildings near the river were set on fire from an attack led by Little Crow. As a last resort, the New Ulm’s defenders set fire to the building the Dakota were using for cover. At sunset the Dakota leave the town in ruins, with 32 people dead, and more than 60 wounded.
