Description:
The men of New Ulm decided to build barricades in the middle of town after hearing of the Dakota attacks. At 3:00 p.m, around 100 Dakota showed up at New Ulm and about 2 hours of fighting started. Eventually, the Dakota retreated because of fierce rain that had started during the battle. News of the attacks spread to St. Paul, and Henry Sibley gathered some men and followed in pursuit of the Dakota
