feb 3, 1880 - Black Donnellys (Zoe)
Description:
On February 3, 1880, James, Johannah, Thomas, John, and Bridget Donnelly were murdered in the village of Lucan, Ontario. The family was not well liked, as they were criminals with accounts of arson, assault, trespassing, and attempted murder. The Peace Society (created by the father at their church, the Donnellys did not join) planned to hurt the Donnellys until they confessed to their crimes. They got drunk during their attempt and ended up killing the Donnellys and burning the house down. Luckily a friend of theirs was in the house at the time and was able to see who the killers were and get away before the burning of the house. The case was taken to court but the jury deemed the Peace Society not guilty. This story was inspiration for many books and movies.
