Description:
On November 8th 1887, Emile Berliner patented a system of sound recording on flat disks and records instead of recording on cylinders. The first records that there made, were made from glass, then they were later made from zinc and then finally they were made from plastic. A spiral grove that contained sound information would then be etched onto the flat record.to play sound the record would rotate on the gramophone and what was known as the “arm” of the gramophone held a needle that read the grooves on the record by vibration and it would then transmit the information from the grooves up to the gramophone speaker.
