A director from Hollywood, James Cameron took a solo dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench (the deepest point in the ocean), diving 35,756 feet. He filmed at the bottom of the trench for about 3 hours.
This event is significant because it has allowed us access to video footage of a region that had never been accessible by humans before. Scientists and researchers can now study this area and possibly make new discoveries.
