Description:
This speech was given by Abraham Lincoln in the fall of 1862. He declared that all slaves would be freed in the states that worked toward rebellion. This allowed northern politicians to win control of the government and lead to the ending of slavery. During the 1864 election, Lincoln openly campaigned the endorsement of universal abolition of slavery.
