Description:
Baldwin II had no sons so his eldest daughter, Melisende was made heir - but she needed a husband. Looked to the West for support.
She married Fulk, a confrater of the Templars in Jerusalem c1120, who was wealthy and had connections to Henry I of England (He married his daughter to Fulk's son, Geoffrey). He was also an experienced military commander.
Fulk left Anjou to his son Geoffrey and left as head of a crusade which failed to take Damascus.
He married Melisende and they had a child, Baldwin, in 1130.
